Designing your own living room
The living room is the buffer point of the home. It is referred to as the same because it is the link between the external and the internal rooms in the house. The living room is the place which is most frequented by the visitors. The person entering the house goes in though the living room and then to the adjoining rooms like the lobby or other rooms but in most city homes the living room is the lobby cum dining room also.
When decorating the living room the simplicity or the starkness of the living room leaves and impression on the visitors as that is normally the limit to most visitors. The living room should not also be the clutter zone for all storage. The living room should be designed keeping in mind the space available there. In city homes the living room has a space for the kitchen and the dining area. Hence keep this in mind leave enough space out for the same. Also leave enough space in between the furniture and the other accessories so that you can walk around without getting hurt.
The most common things which are there in the living room include a cabinet for the TV, deck, and other options like these. You can also store a lot of things in the cabinet and it can also act as a showcase. The sofa can be a 3 seating one or a single seating one depending on your choice. The coffee table or the centre table is a must so that you can serve the guests. This includes most of the basic furniture for the living room. More can be added depending on the space. Use vibrant and bright colours in the living room. It should reflect a bright setting yet not very loud. The use of colours and patterns can be done on the accessories like the cushions or the paintings. You can also choose a theme like Victorian or oriental depending on your taste but try to strike a balance so that style does not get in the way of convenience and being practical.
